WMV lags

Postby banzemanga on Tue Jun 24, 2008 4:05 am

Well I have been noticing this for a long time but at first i did not mind since most of the videos were encoded with DivX or Xvid but now WM9 is being used used awfully a lot --i don't like it but i don't have a choice.

What i noticed is that WMV files lags a lot. They specially lag when jumping from different time lines. I wonder if there is actually any decoder that have such problem solved.

The seeking lag with WMV files is more a splitter problem, than a decoder one. But you could try enabling the various WMV video formats in ffdshow.

An alternative for the Micrsoft splitter would be using VLC player. That can seek faster, but seeking may result in some artifacts being displayed right after seeking.

That is not possible. It always uses a standard Microsoft splitter.
