Codec Guide

Hi guys.. I hope you got a solution for this problem.

I recently grabbed Hitman and i played fine on my system with with K-lite pack 2.72 ; SDL player 1.4 and DivX codec installed but we couldnt get it running on my friends pc.

Yesterday I got a new HD and made a clean windows install, and had to grab the new version of K-lite (megapack 3.7) and now it doesn't work on mine eighter. Just like it did on my friends computer. The problem is that the player says that the file is corrupt and tries to repair it, but it cant get past 1hour 11minutes 56sec mark... It just stops the playback there.

On my old system the FPS dropped very low for 2sec when it came to that point during the playback, but resumed playback with normal FPS afterwards....

How come the older versions of the same codec could play it, but the newer can't? .. I got same problem with other newer *.avi files

You could try disabling "AVI Splitter (Gabest)" with the Codec Tweak Tool. Then it will use the Microsoft splitter (which was the default in the past).

But better would be to repair those files by removing the broken sections. You can do that with the Avifixed tool, or with VirtualDub.
