hope the next version of K-Lite Codec Pack / K-Lite Mega Codec Pack support the thumbnail preview for .DAT or .dat video file....

currently, it does not support thumbnail preview for this file type...

That will never happen because .dat is a too common file extension that is also used for non video files.

You can enable thumbnails manually with this registry script:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.dat\ShellEx\{BB2E617C-0920-11D1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}]
@="{c5a40261-cd64-4ccf-84cb-c394da41d590}"

is that Registry Code will give any problem to the os or system will become unstable ????
or
it will give problem to other .dat file extension that is used for non video files.
coz i'm using windows vista.....

I have not tested it. But it is possible that Explorer will crash when you browse a folder that contains .dat files that are not video.

how to restore back to normal when the explorer crash ???
(i mean how to disable the thumbnails........)

Simply delete the registry key:
