none of the affected computers are overclocked

anyway why would i need more than 12GHz

all the computers affected, only have one thing in common, they are all Intel cpus, although different ages and speeds.

So far the beta has not frozen my computer.

The new codec pack can't play xvid for very long before it freezes the system.

I can't even set xvid to play xvid any more, either way, an xvid video will freeze the system.

Looks like i will have to re-encode everything to divx or H264, until the problem is fixed, and warn everyone not to play xvid video.

Nobody else is having the same problems as you have. So there is nothing to 'fix'.

I suggest you download some tools to test your RAM for errors and stress-test your CPU. Check if all the fans in your computer are working and noting is overheating.

1. The Nvidia 680i has a full system check that checks all memory and hardware, i have done that, and passed. (it takes some time to test the memory, so i am guessing it does it properly)

2. although it happens more often on my qx6850 system, the problem is also happening 7 other computer.

3. the computers affected are intel, amd CPU with Nvidia, and radeon video cards.

4. problem only happens when playing XVID video, NOT any other video or games.

5. changing to use xvid or divx to play xvid, does not fix the problem, although changing to divx to play xvid, does vastly make it happen less.

6. all computers effected, play 4+ videos a day, ranging from 24min to 60mins each.

7. the computer freezes, with no error or anything.

8. all computers affected are within normal temperature rages.

9. none of the computers are over clocked, or modified.

10. power has been checked.

11. i posted here to see if anyone could help me, i am a firm supporter of this codec pack.

12. i am currently disassembling all the affected computer, and reassembling them, to see if this if some kind of oxidization or movement problem, seems unlikely though, since only xvid is affected.

See if the other filters (splitter, audio decoder) in the chain have an influence on the problem.

It was suggested to me to remove one of my cards from the pc, so i have removed my TV card, and low and behold, no more freezing.

This kind of &*(^, since the other affected computers only have a video card, and already have the parallel and serial disabled.

This has to be the most stupid bug ever.

At least the update pack you released made the other computers more stable.

changing splitters etc for audio and video had no effect.

Since my pc is no longer freezing, i am happy, but for all the others i maintain, they are not, and bug me often.

Hopefully upgrading to the 780i, will let me use my TV card again.
They need to put more IRQ's in the MoBo.

Indeed a very weird bug.

Check if there are any BIOS updates available for the motherboards that are in the affected PCs.
