Postby Beaves on Wed Jul 01, 2009 11:31 pm

Hi there i was wondering if i need to install the media players it comes with? or will your codec play all media in my real player and windows media player without the addition of the players it comes with?. also currently i have the vista codec pack installed am in the process of removing it as i don't like it. it has problems with my powerdvd. so if i just uninstall that codec and install yours will everything be ok?. thanks for help i look forward to hearing from you.

omg it did install it ffdshow audio decoder thing loaded up and was decoding the mpeg2 audio i left that stuff unchecked how do i fix this? windows has native MPeg2 playback. i just uninstalled k-lite and file still plays why is it doing this when it was not installed for MPEG2. ok i did a reinstall and MPEG2 stuff is not checked it was not checked by default. so why it decode the audio this is interesting is it suppose to do that?. :o

The pack automatically detects if the Microsoft MPEG-2 video decoder (or another decoder) is installed. In that case, the pack won't install a MPEG-2 decoder at default settings.

MPEG audio is a different format than MPEG-2 video. Audio instead of video. If you for some reason prefer the native decoder for that, uncheck the MP2 audio decoder in the installer. There are no known problems that I am aware of when ffdshow is doing the decoding instead.

The default settings in the pack are generally the recommended ones for novice users. If you don't understand what the several additional options do, then it is best not to touch them.

The included player is of course optional (as is everything in the pack). The included components work with all DirectShow players, including Windows Media Player.
