I had something around 3.5.3 and then I installed the newest version and I think some files like divx seem less sharp, but I could be an idiot and be imagining it, so could anything in the most newest version cause videos to look less sharp and more blurry? and if so, could I fix it? thanks for any help, goodnight.

Nothing has changed that should affect that.

You can adjust the post-processing settings (deblocking, sharpening, etc) to your personal preferences. The DivX filter has post-processing enabled by default, in ffdshow you need to enable it manually, but ffdshow has many more options.
