mkv files not showing their thumbnails it used to work, but after updating to 5.3.0 it no longer works, any fixes available?

What version of Windows do you use?

the same problem here, i'm using windows 7 32 bit and can't get any thumbnail for mkv format, other ones work just fine

On Windows 7 you need to set ffdshow as the preferred H.264 decoder with this tool:

The standard decoder from Microsoft does not work well for thumbnails.

That is normal. It shows the first frame of the video as the thumbnail.

clsid , add some warning or hint to installer about ffdshow decoder for thumbnail or thumbnail options becomes useless.

It has been added to the FAQ.

Changing preferred decoders directly from the installer might be a feature in an upcoming version. Also, a new version of Haali splitter is coming that will possibly be able to bypass the Microsoft decoders, and thus also solving this thumbnail issue.
