FLV Video Playback

Postby wpr on Mon Nov 02, 2009 12:32 pm

I have the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack with Media Player Classic Homecinema installed.

About the middle of last month I installed the 520 version. Prior to this, many of the FLV videos I watched would continue to play (video only, no sound) after they had played for the time showing in MPC (i.e., if it showed the video to be 4 minutes long, it would play both video and audio for 4 minutes, then it would play only video for a time after the 4 minutes). With version 520 this isn't happening.

I don't know if this is related to the FLV videos or some settings in FFDSHOW or MPC. Does anyone have any ideas how to address this? Thanks for any assistance.

I uninstalled K-Lite 520 and reinstalled 505 and can't reproduce the problem. I can't disagree with 'files may be damaged,' but since they played (video and sound) for the appropriate length and then only video for some time after that, that's OK with me. I was hoping someone here had experienced this as well and could help with getting this 'feature' back.

I don't understand why you would want to have that 'wrong' behavior. That said, I never encountered the behavior you describe. All FLV files I have play normally like other video files.

@wpr: For damaged files you will get best results with VLC.
PS: If it is really damaged you can re-encode the file with VirtualDub.
