Bug: v5.3.0 broke Windows 7 Aero effects

Postby nanana1 on Wed Oct 28, 2009 1:01 pm

Happen when I played a .flv video, desktop turned to Basic and revert to Aero when MPC is closed.

Back to v5.2.0

That can happen because of two settings in MPC. Those can easily be adjusted, so no need to use the previous version.

MPC Options -> Playback -> Output -> select "EVR custom"
MPC menu -> View -> Renderer Settings -> Presentation -> uncheck "Disable desktop composition"

Both settings should already be set that way by default. Did you perhaps change anything?

Thanks !

Installed default options and clearly EVR custom was selected (by default) during the setup but after installing, the MPC options -> playback -> Output was set to Overlay Mixer :?:

Checked MPC menu -> View -> Renderer Settings -> Presentation -> "Disable desktop composition" was unchecked by default. 8)

Anyway, now changed to EVR custom and Windows 7 Aero effects is NOT broken when playing a flv video.

Yeah, I can corroborate with the same issue. During the installer, I set it to EVR custom with DXVA, but when I was tweaking MPD's settings, it was set on Overlay. Can you look into that?

The same thing happen on Win XP SP3 (I have set "EVR custom" and Overlay is selected) and also "Allow animated subtitles" doesn't work.

Thanks for the reports.

Animated subs -> reproduced and fixed
Overlay instead of EVR -> I have not yet been able to reproduce it

What version of Windows are you all using?
Does it happen on the Administrator account, or on a different Windows user account.
If you reset settings with the Codec Tweak Tool, is the correct renderer selected in MPC after that?

I haven't tried the "Codec Tweak Tool" yet but in the setup I have selected to save settings in the INI.

Ok, now I can reproduce it. Thanks.

This bug only occurs when storing settings in an INI file. So a workaround is to use the Registry (default in the pack).

This will be fixed in next version.
