Ati Avivo Video Converter

Postby Pascal333 on Tue Jul 15, 2008 8:58 pm

Hi,

I was wondering if you guys have had a look at the new ATI Avivo Video Converter working with the set of codecs?

Here's a reference URL of the initial problem: http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=279&threadid=97438&enterthread=y

I might suspect that the problem could originate from the use of this package's codecs. But then, what do I know. The Radeon 4800 series is pretty new so I assume not too many people have had the opportunity of working with the cards.

That error message makes me suspect that Avivo is a bit buggy. But you could simply uninstall the pack to see if that helps. I can't help you with this problem since I don't use Avivo.

I tried removing the codecs. Only the problem then is that I can't convert Xvid videos nor MKV.

Though I think you might be right; the Avivo video converter is a bit bugger. It does not produce very good quality video *when it works*. The frames of the videos flickers and you can see weird squares appearing here and there.

oh well

It's very fast, but that comes at the cost of quality.

Pure software converters are better. You could try Avidemux.
